Forever 27 or Forever Forgotten?

Ah, the 27 Club. Consisting of famous musicians who have died at 27 years of age, they've inspired poster artists to create surrreal interpretations of heaven in which Jim Morrison reads his poetry to a lizard, and Jimi and Janis share a bottle on a melting futon. But what about those other musicians not popular enough to make it into the lofty realms of stoner air brush artistry? Those musicians who died at the right age, but hadn't the star power to be forever immortalized under a blacklight? Here's a list of Dead at 27 musicians you'll never see hanging in some frat boy's dorm room:

Pete Ham, singer of Bad Finger

Gary Thrain, Uriah Heep bassist

Pete de Freitas, Echo and the Bunnymen drummer

Ron "Pigpen" McKernan, keyboardist of the Grateful Dead

Mia Zapata, Gits singer

Robert Johnson, blues musician

Will the recently deceased Amy Winehouse join the more celebrated musicans in poster form? I don't know, but I think I'm more interested in visiting the uncelebrated part of rock n roll heaven. I imagine the egos are smaller, at least.

Wait..could it be? Far, and very small at the top of the page--it is! It's Robert Johnson! Painted in almost as an afterthought.Well, good for him.
